Mary Page Whitley

Mary Page Whitley graduated from ECU with a degree in Education with an emphasis in Art. She later returned to ECU to study painting under the late Paul Hartley. Whitley became a full-time artist following her teaching career, enjoying workshops with various artists throughout the US and Europe, learning new plein air techniques along the way. 

She was involved with the Kinston Community Council for the Arts and served on the board for extended years. She also  helped direct the public art endeavors throughout the city of Kinston.

Whitley paints in oils and has a studio in her home. Her  paintings show her use of bold colors, pitting colors against one another and painting the light that the viewer can see, feel and experience as they travel through the painting.

Today living in Greenville, Whitley is enjoying the thriving art scene and being a part of the Greenville community.
